In modern urban environments, public safety agencies face increasingly complex challenges when dealing with suspicious objects, potential explosive devices, and hazardous situations. To support rapid response and improve operational safety, our company successfully delivered a customized bomb disposal vehicle based on the Maxus V90 platform, specifically designed to meet the practical needs of explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) teams.
This project demonstrates how a well-designed specialized vehicle can significantly enhance the efficiency, safety, and mobility of bomb disposal units operating in cities, transportation hubs, and critical infrastructure areas.

Project Background
Bomb disposal teams require highly reliable vehicles that can safely transport specialized equipment, robots, protective suits, and detection devices. At the same time, the vehicle must be compact enough to maneuver in crowded urban environments while providing sufficient interior space for equipment storage and quick deployment.

To meet these requirements, the client selected the Maxus V90 bomb disposal vehicle, which combines excellent maneuverability, spacious cargo capacity, and a modular interior layout.
The vehicle is built on a factory-customized right-hand-drive Maxus V90 chassis, making it suitable for countries and regions that operate right-hand-drive vehicles. The design focuses on operational efficiency, equipment accessibility, and safety during emergency response missions.

Vehicle Platform and Chassis Advantages
The vehicle uses the original Maxus V90 customized RHD chassis, ensuring reliability, durability, and compatibility with international operational standards.

Key platform features include:
-
Long wheelbase chassis (3760 mm wheelbase) providing extended internal space
-
Optimized load distribution for specialized equipment
-
Stable driving performance suitable for urban and highway operations
-
Comfortable cab design for long-duration deployments
The long-wheelbase configuration significantly increases the usable interior area, allowing the bomb disposal team to carry more equipment while maintaining an organized storage layout.

Front Electric Winch for Hazard Handling
The front section of the vehicle is equipped with a 5-ton electric winch, which plays an important role during bomb disposal operations.
This winch allows operators to:
-
Remotely move suspicious objects from a safe distance
-
Assist bomb disposal robots in difficult terrain
-
Remove obstacles in hazardous environments
-
Support vehicle recovery if required
Using the electric winch significantly reduces the need for manual handling, helping to improve safety during high-risk missions.

Rear Tow Hook and Equipment Deployment System
At the rear of the vehicle, a 1.5-ton towing hook is installed, providing additional operational flexibility.
This towing system allows the vehicle to:
-
Tow bomb disposal robots or equipment trailers
-
Support mobile command or support units
-
Assist in emergency recovery operations
In addition, the vehicle is equipped with a rear sloped loading ramp, which makes it easy to load and unload heavy equipment such as bomb disposal robots. This design greatly simplifies deployment and reduces physical strain on operators.

360-Degree Roof Camera System
For enhanced situational awareness, the vehicle roof is equipped with a 360-degree camera system.
This advanced visual monitoring system allows operators to:
-
Monitor the surrounding environment in real time
-
Improve safety when operating in crowded or restricted areas
-
Assist with maneuvering in tight spaces
-
Provide visual support during explosive device investigations
The panoramic camera system helps the team maintain full situational awareness, which is crucial during sensitive security operations.

Practical Application Scenarios
The Maxus V90 bomb disposal vehicle is designed for a wide range of real-world operational scenarios, including:
Urban security operations
Used by police EOD teams to respond to suspicious packages, abandoned items, or bomb threats in cities.
Airport and transportation hubs
Supports rapid deployment of bomb disposal teams at airports, railway stations, and subway systems.
Public events and crowd security
Ensures safety during large gatherings, sporting events, and government activities.
Critical infrastructure protection
Provides mobile support for inspections around government buildings, energy facilities, and industrial zones.
With its mobility and integrated equipment storage, the vehicle allows bomb disposal teams to arrive quickly and operate efficiently in high-risk environments.
